Michel Cornu began his career in 1984 when he joined a workshop in St Die, meeting Japanese painter, Osamu Yamasaki, and working with him for three years. His limited edition fine art aquatint’s pieces have a calligraphic quality that has been described as simple yet well executed. Is is this style that creates a mature relationship between the paper and ink, decisively partnering an age-old combination. The grisaille palette offsets the delicacy and lightness of the elongated shapes that appear to grow and develop, resulting in a powerful visual impact.
